Why is my firm not showing in ChatGPT, and what to fix
A firm usually does not appear in AI answers for one of three reasons: the answer engine crawlers are blocked in robots.txt, the page text is rendered by JavaScript and never in the raw HTML, or the page never states who the firm works with in plain words. An answer engine can only quote a page it can fetch and parse, and it names a firm only when a page says clearly what the firm does and who for.
What can you check today?
- Open yoursite.com/robots.txt and look for Disallow lines naming GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot.
- View the page source (not the rendered page) and see whether your main copy is there.
- Search your own homepage for a sentence that names the audience you serve and the size of client you take.
